Cleaning Value Project

It is Summer time which means it is a great time work on one of your Value Projects.  Here is an idea that not only your Mom will love, but it will help you form good habits and routines that you will use for years to come.

This "Create Your Own" Value Project can fit into Good Works, Divine Nature, or Knowledge:

Learn basic organizational and house-cleaning skills.  Identify the equipment needed and proper methods to maintain an orderly home.

Study https://www.lds.org/ensign/1985/10/more-than-clean-windows-the-unrecognized-value-of-housework?lang=eng; a talk found in the October 1985 Ensign titled “More Than Clean Windows: The Unrecognized Value of Housework” by Kathleen Slaugh (assistant professor of Family Sciences at BYU).

Follow @cleanmama on Instagram and learn her daily cleaning routine.  Research on www.cleanmama.net methods and skills of cleaning (this is just one resource and is not a requirement to complete this project.  You may do your own research to gain knowledge). After learning the skills, discuss your plans with your Mom or Dad and learn about their routines.  Create your routine around theirs to complement what is already being completed in your home. Use your new skills to serve by cleaning your home for a total of (at least) 10 hours.

Discuss the blessings that come from maintaining a house of order with a parent or Young Women Leader.  Write in your journal about what you learned and how it affected your family life and interactions.
